Doctors Urged Parents to Abort Their ‘Deformed’ Baby – You Won’t Believe How He Looks Today
These parents refused to abort their baby, even though they knew he would be ‘deformed.’ Take a look at him now.
Parents who are expecting a new baby have a lot to be excited about.
Of course, new parents have plenty to worry about too. Pregnancy can feel like a rollercoaster, and while it’s good to stay positive, it’s also smart to be prepared in case something unexpected happens with mom or baby.

Most parents pray and hope their little one will arrive healthy, with no birth defects or medical problems. That’s the dream for every expecting mom and dad. For one young couple, the wait for their newborn was filled with love, nerves, and a lot of anxious excitement as they prepared to meet their sweet miracle baby.
When their baby boy Brody came along, his parents knew right away he was different—but they wouldn’t realize just how much until he was born.
At their 24-week pregnancy ultrasound, the couple got news no expecting parents ever want to hear. Baby Brody was diagnosed with a bilateral cleft lip and palate, a condition that would not only affect how he looked but could also bring serious health problems like feeding issues, speech delays, and multiple surgeries ahead.
The doctor even asked the heartbreaking question—did they want to keep the baby or consider other options?

The young couple knew they wanted to keep their baby.
The young couple never hesitated—they knew they were keeping their baby. It didn’t matter if he looked different or if he’d need extra medical care. They were ready to give him all the love and support he needed, even if that meant facing surgeries and health challenges after birth.
For them, it wasn’t just about raising Brody—it was about changing how people see babies born with birth defects and cleft conditions. They wanted to spread awareness and show the world that every baby deserves love, no matter what.
Brody’s mother, Sara, said;

“It is OK to be proud of your baby no matter the circumstances. We wanted to change what ultrasound/newborn/first year pictures on our Facebook/Instagram accounts looked like. We wanted to spread awareness of cleft lips and palates.”

Cleft lips and palate are common birth defects that occur when certain tissues don’t form or fuse together.
Cleft lips and cleft palate are actually among the most common birth defects in babies. They happen when the tissues in the mouth and lips don’t form or fuse the way they should during pregnancy. This condition can make it tough for a baby to eat, drink, smile, and even breathe. And without cleft palate surgery, a child may struggle to talk clearly or live a normal life as they grow. That’s why most parents choose corrective surgery, giving their little ones the best chance at a healthy, happy future.
Even with the challenges ahead, Sara and her partner Chris were proud of their sweet baby boy. Just like any new parents, they shared his photos on social media. They were overwhelmed by the kindness and support pouring in from friends, family, and even strangers online.
But of course, not everyone understood. Some people sent Sara private messages, bluntly asking what was “wrong” with her baby’s face.

Sara was upset by these questions but used them as an opportunity to educate people about her son’s condition and, hopefully, prevent them from asking questions like this in the future.
She said:
“I decided to educate rather than create a confrontation because that is what I want Brody to do in the future. I will want him to educate, to be an advocate for younger cleft kids who don’t have their own voice yet.”
And while there were negative moments, Sara also says they’ve experienced amazing acts of kindness. One story that touched her heart happened when she and a friend went out for dinner with baby Brody. A waiter walked over and handed them a folded piece of paper. Inside was a check for $1,000, with a simple note that read: “For the beautiful baby.”

Sara and Chris used the money to pay for some of Brody’s medical expenses and help him get the surgery he needs to repair his lip.
Last year, little Brody went through his first cleft lip repair surgery, and the procedure was a success. His recovery has been going really well, and even though doctors say he’ll probably need a few more surgeries in the future, he’s thriving. Brody is a happy, smiling little boy who’s already proving he’s stronger than his challenges.
Sara said:
“This experience has shown us just how strong the cleft community is. We’ve been contacted by people all over the country. they are praying for us and asking us to reach out if we need anything.”
